Update and uninstall
How to move to a new version, move from the earlier app name, or remove ncode from your Mac, without losing data you want to keep.
Updating#
ncode does not update itself yet. When a new version is out:
- Quit ncode (⌘+Q, then Quit). If workflows are running, the button reads Pause & quit: they pause and resume after the update.
- Download the new disk image and check its SHA-256 as in Install.
- Drag the new ncode into Applications and choose Replace.
- Open it. If macOS stops it again, allow it as in First launch.
Your conversations, projects, settings and keys live outside the app, so they stay. A new version may upgrade the database the first time it opens; keep the ncode terminal app on the same version (see Using with the CLI and the CLI's page on it).

Moving from SwarmCode.app#
ncode is the same app under its new name. It keeps the same data folder, so there is nothing to export or import:
- Quit SwarmCode.app.
- Drag SwarmCode.app from Applications to the Trash.
- Install ncode.app as described in Install.
Your conversations, projects, keys and schedules appear as before.
Uninstalling#
- Quit ncode.
- Drag ncode.app from Applications to the Trash.
That removes the app and keeps your data, so installing again later brings everything back. To remove the data as well, delete these too:

Warning Deleting ~/Library/Application Support/SwarmCode removes your conversations, settings and keys for good, in the app and in ncode. Export conversations you want to keep first.
Names#
Names you may still see#
ncode had a different name before this release. The app and the command are new, but a few places keep the earlier name so your data, your projects and your scripts keep working. You do not need to rename anything.

Two more paths still carry the earlier name:
- Deep research writes each research to
~/.swarmcode/research/<id>/. - The app's logs are in
~/Library/Logs/SwarmCode/.
